"No Kid Hungry" Limited Edition Fundraiser Bandana

"No Kid Hungry" Limited Edition Fundraiser Bandana

UPDATE 6/5/2020: Just over 5 weeks ago, we created a special fundraiser for No Kid Hungry after learning that nearly 1 in 5 young children in the US are not enough to eat. We designed a special school-lunch-inspired bandana with our family members - mankind's most useful invention and a no-sew mask design. We printed a limited run of these bandanas in two colors and set a fundraising goal of $500 / 5,000 meals for kids. All net proceeds from the sale of the bandanas was donated directly to No Kid Hungry on our fundraising page.

Today we are celebrating the successful conclusion of this fundraiser with you. Together, we exceeded our fundraising goal for No Kid Hungry, raising a total of $722 / 7,220 meals for kids. Every single bandana was sold in just under 5 weeks.

What a success, well done everyone!

You can still donate directly to No Kid Hungry on our fundraising page: http://join.nokidhungry.org/goto/walnutstudiolo

Nearly 1 in 5 young children (17.4%) in the United States are not getting enough to eat and over a third of households (40.9%) with children are food insecure (these figures are current as of a study published Wednesday, May 6, 2020 by the Brookings Institution).

We want to help. Together with our family, we designed a school-lunch inspired fundraiser bandana to help end child hunger. Our fundraising goal is a modest-but-achievable $500 for No Kid Hungry.

We're offering you a useful, colorful, and stylish bandana that can be used as a no-sew mask to protect yourself and others from COVID-19, all while raising money to feed children who are suffering during the COVID-19 crisis.

About the Bandana

Bandanas are useful for just about everything, but this 22" (56cm) square size also works as an adult no-sew face covering.

The design features a monochromatic hand-drawn illustration inspired by school lunches. It was drawn by family member Jon Schafer and our school-age nephew, Levi (age 7) and features a hidden Walnut logo.

The design is screenprinted on one side of the fabric (the back side is blank).

There are two color options:

  • Navy blue bandana with bright yellow ink
  • Bright yellow bandana with navy blue ink

Transparency in Giving

We printed a limited run of these bandanas and have a modest-but-achievable fundraising goal of $500 (5,000 meals). (Let's hope we exceed that goal and have to order a reprint!)

We will be donating all proceeds of every bandana sale after the cost of the bandana, packaging, and shipping. Everyone in our family donated their time and talents to this fundraiser, including the illustrators.

Follow along as we try to reach our goal on our No Kids Hungry fundraising page: http://join.nokidhungry.org/goto/walnutstudiolo (donations will be submitted weekly on Mondays, donations to begin on May 13, 2020).

Please consider an additional donation to No Kid Hungry. Every $10 connects a child to 100 meals. You can donate directly on our fundraising page.
